As the 2015 Briagolong Film Festival draws to a close with The Babadook at 8pm, we just want to say a huge:
Your support has been overwhelming – so many people turned up for the Saturday night Short Film Festival that we pulled every bench seat, every spare chair from every hidden corner, just to fit you in. Even then, there were a few who decided to come back and watch the repeat session on Sunday morning – a few of you even decided to have another look.
In the next few days we will give a proper round-up – and will announce the prize winner who will be drawn at the festival close tonight. But, for now, there are a few people we should thank for their contribution to the festival’s fantastic success:
Rachael Lucas, for her stewardship of the Short Film Festival: as everyone commented, it just keeps getting better and better and the talent pool is incredible. Everything from raving ravens to local heroes and plenty of gorgeous Gippsland scenery in between.
The Hall Committee, supporters and Film Festival Coordinator, Annette Short. (it’s OK – she’s not writing this!) without whose perseverance we would not have an ongoing festival. You’ve all done the town proud. When you have recovered, let’s talk about 2016. . .
Neil Sandison for ensuring the new (permanent) projector was ready. He’s a hard man to find any spare time now that he’s ‘gone East’ but we are very grateful for his technical expertise.
Film Victoria, Wellington Shire Council and ExxonMobil for their fantastic support, without which we wouldn’t have slept so easily these past few nights. It was a great helping hand to make sure we could bring the best standard of festival to you.
And last, but most importantly: you – all the wonderful supporters, film buffs, local and visiting, who made the festival what it is – a wonderful celebration of community and sharing a love of film.
Let the credits roll. We’ll be back next year.
